text-mode.tumblr.com<\/a> was launched in February 2012 by Raquel Meyers<\/a> and Goto80<\/a> in order to gather\u00a0quality text graphics in one place. We selected our favourites from archives such as asciiarena<\/a>, sixteencolors<\/a>, utf8art<\/a> and ANSIart<\/a>\u00a0and started to explore what were less noticed formats at the time, such as PETSCII<\/a>, teletext <\/a>and sharpscii<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Gradually we expanded the techno-centric gaze to include related works with pottery<\/a>, architecture<\/a> and mosaics<\/a>. You can read a critique of the technocentric idea of text graphics in this paper<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This site was launched in March 2014 (as t3xtm0.de) to gather all 2000+ posts from Tumblr in a searchable and organized archive<\/a>. We also appeared on Twitter<\/a>. Posts were daily, or even more frequent, until October 2015 when things got more sporadic.<\/p>\n

This site is the hub with all the content, and they are distributed differently on Twitter and Tumblr. In May 2024, the site had 4,000 posts, and 25,000 followers on Tumblr and Twitter.<\/p>\n
