Giko (ギコ), Giko Cat – Giko Cat Giko Cat or Giko neko (ギコ猫) is a textbased Japanese fictional cat. He is considered one of mascots of 2ch, the largest bulletin board of Japan. He usually says, “Itteyoshi” (roughly translated, “Go and die”). It is considered to originate in Ayashii World (Strange World), an old bulletin board in Japan around 1999.

Soy Sauce Warrior Kikkoman was created at the Japanese site 2channel and became a meme around 2000. Giko Cat – another famous Japanese ascii meme – is also involved and is either hung by Kikkoman or hangs himself after Kikkoman yells at him.

Hot setup for radio text art! This is Isao Yamaguchi and his radio machinery to send text messages around the world. RTTY art was around even before ASCII was born. It used something called Baudot instead. More here.
