Jed’s Other Poem by Stewart Smith, 2005. Music by Grandaddy. It’s a BASIC-program running on an Apple II+ (see). The source code was released online, and inspired other videos like this.

ANDROID NIM. Game for the Commodore PET by Don Dennis (1979).

From the book Typerformance: Analogies, Drawings & Patterns With Letterforms From a Collection of Student Work, edited by Roger Ferriter 1983. Copied from Alex Tyson’s Tumblr.

By Karl Kempton

By Marge Roemer in the 1950s. She published her book Fun With Your Typewriter in 1956, and it was reviewed by a magazine called Woman’s Day. It has a conservative house-wife/secretary kind of vibe to it.

Videoplace by Myron Krueger at the University of Connecticut’s Artificial Reality Lab, 1985. Only vaguely related to textmode, but…

By Markham, 2010. It seems to use custom characters and colours. Found here, in a thread about Melly’s ASCII-Paint, which seems to have been based on another ASCII-Paint, developed 2009-2011.
